Same Bike, Different Price: Why a Bike Costs More in Noida Than in Gurgaon

Walk into a showroom in Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon and you will be quoted the same ex-showroom price, the same insurance and the same handling charges. Only one line changes: the one-time road tax, which is set by the state where the vehicle is registered. That one line can move the on-road price by several thousand rupees.

The rules
  • Delhi charges a one-time road tax of 8% of the ex-showroom price on petrol two-wheelers. Electric two-wheelers are exempt.
  • Uttar Pradesh charges a one-time road tax of 7% on two-wheelers up to ₹40,000 and 10% above that, as a share of the ex-showroom price. Electric two-wheelers are exempt until 13 October 2027. (Noida, Ghaziabad)
  • Haryana charges a one-time road tax of 4% on two-wheelers up to ₹75,000, 6% up to ₹2,00,000 and 8% above that, as a share of the ex-showroom price. Electric two-wheelers are exempt under the Haryana EV policy. (Gurgaon, Faridabad)

Popular models: Delhi vs Noida vs Gurgaon

What it means for you

For all 14 popular models, Gurgaon works out cheapest. The biggest gap is on the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: ₹4,800 between the cheapest and the dearest city. Haryana's slab system is lightest on cheaper commuters, while Uttar Pradesh's 10% rate above ₹40,000 makes Noida and Ghaziabad the dearest for almost every new bike.

You cannot simply register in the cheapest state, though. A vehicle is registered at the RTO for your address, and you need proof of address in that state. If you live in Noida and buy in Delhi, the dealer will collect UP road tax. Electric scooters and bikes avoid the question entirely: all three states currently exempt them from road tax.

Every model has its own city pages with the full breakup: Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad, plus the full road tax guide.

Quick answers

Is a bike cheaper in Gurgaon or Noida?

For most new bikes and scooters, Gurgaon (Haryana) is cheaper than Noida (Uttar Pradesh) because Haryana's road tax slabs are lower. On the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V the gap is about ₹4,800.

Can I buy a bike in Delhi and register it in Noida?

Yes, but it is registered at the RTO for your address and you pay that state's road tax. The dealer handles the paperwork.

Do electric scooters pay road tax in Delhi NCR?

No. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana currently exempt electric two-wheelers from road tax, so their on-road price is about the same across NCR.

Lowzo News is written by the Lowzo Price Desk at Ollinio Technologies India Pvt Ltd, New Delhi, the team that runs the Lowzo dealer-auction app. Every on-road price in our articles is read live from price lists of authorised Delhi dealers and checked daily (our method); NCR city prices are estimates using each state's published road-tax rules; specs come from each maker's official spec sheet. We do not take payment from manufacturers or dealers for coverage, and articles never rank a model because a dealer pays Lowzo. Spotted an error?
